Agustín Millares Carlo

Agustín Millares Carlo (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1893 - Mexico City, 1980) was a Spanish paleographer, bibliographer, historian, and Latinist. He studied at the Central University of Madrid, where he was a disciple of Ramón Menéndez Pidal and Antonio Maura. He was a Professor of Paleography at the Central University until his exile in 1936, after the Spanish Civil War. He lived in Mexico and Venezuela, where he continued his teaching and research work at UNAM and the Central University of Venezuela. His work is fundamental in paleography and diplomatics, notably his "Treatise on Spanish Paleography" and "Notions of Paleography".
