Carlos García Gual

Carlos García Gual is a Spanish classical philologist, Hellenist, translator, writer, and university professor. He was born in Palma de Mallorca in 1943. He is professor emeritus of Greek Philology at the Complutense University of Madrid and has been a professor at the University of Barcelona and at the National University of Distance Education (UNED). He has translated numerous classical works from Greek and Latin, including texts by Homer, Plato, Herodotus, Euripides, and Aristotle, for publishing houses such as Gredos and Alianza Editorial. He is the author of essays and books on Greek mythology, ancient philosophy, and classical literature. He has received various awards for his work, such as the Fray Luis de León National Translation Award and the National Literature Award in the Essay category. He is a member of the Royal Spanish Academy.
