Carlos Sanz Díaz

Carlos Sanz Díaz (Madrid, 1898-1971) was a Spanish historian, bibliophile, and numismatist. Professor of Bibliography and History of the Book at the Central University of Madrid and director of the National Archaeological Museum. Specialized in the history of science, cartography, and voyages of exploration, especially in relation to the figure of Christopher Columbus and the history of the discovery of America. He founded the magazine "Bibliofilia" and was a member of the Royal Academy of History. He is known for his studies on the first printed books and maps related to the New World.
