Christoph von Schmid

Christoph von Schmid was a German author of children's and youth books, a Catholic priest, and an educator. He was born on August 15, 1768, in Dinkelsbühl and died on September 3, 1854, in Augsburg. He is known for his moral and edifying stories, many of which have been translated into numerous languages. Among his most famous works are "The Hundred Days," "The Flower Basket," and "Genoveva." He is considered one of the most important authors of children's and youth literature in 19th-century Germany. He was ordained a priest in 1791 and dedicated a large part of his life to teaching and writing. His stories often emphasize Christian values such as piety, humility, and charity.
