Clara Janés

Clara Janés (Barcelona, 1940) is a Spanish poet, translator, and essayist. She has been a member of the Royal Spanish Academy since 2016. Her poetic work, which has been awarded the National Poetry Prize (1997) and the Community of Madrid Letters Prize (2006), is characterized by the exploration of mysticism, eroticism, and the search for transcendence. She has translated important Central European authors such as Jaroslav Seifert and Vladimír Holan.
