Cormac McCarthy

Cormac McCarthy was an American novelist, playwright, and screenwriter known for his dark and philosophical literary works, often set in the American South and Southwest. He was born on July 20, 1933, in Providence, Rhode Island, and his birth name was Charles Joseph McCarthy Jr. His style is characterized by an austere prose, graphic violence, and an exploration of themes such as evil, morality, and the human condition. Among his most celebrated works are The Road, No Country for Old Men, and Blood Meridian, for which he won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2007 for The Road. He passed away on June 13, 2023.
