Diana Gabaldon is an American author born on January 11, 1952, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Before dedicating herself to full-time writing, she earned degrees in zoology, marine biology, and behavioral ecology, and worked as a university professor and scientific researcher. She is globally known for her "Outlander" series of novels, which began with the publication of the first book in 1991. Her works combine elements of historical fiction, romance, adventure, and fantasy, and have been adapted into a successful television series.
