Eduardo Benot (1822-1884) was a Spanish writer, journalist, politician, and lexicographer born in Cádiz. He held positions such as civil governor and deputy to the Cortes, also being a member of the Royal Spanish Academy since 1860. He is mainly known for his lexicographical work, notably his influential Diccionario de la lengua española, in addition to having published novels, poetry, and theatrical works.
