Emilio Castelar y Ripoll (Cádiz, 1832 - San Pedro del Pinatar, 1899) was a Spanish politician, journalist, and writer. A prominent orator and a key figure of the First Spanish Republic, he served as president of the Executive Power (1873-1874). A defender of democratic liberalism and republicanism, he was a professor of History at the Central University of Madrid.
