Evaristo Correa Calderón (1913-1988) was a Spanish writer and humanist, philologist, professor of language and literature, and ethnographer. Born in Valdecalzada (Badajoz), he earned his doctorate at the University of Salamanca. He dedicated much of his work to the study of folklore, popular literature, dialectology, and Extremaduran ethnography, being a benchmark in the research of the speech and traditions of his region. Among his notable works are "El habla de Llerena" (The Speech of Llerena) and "Cuentos populares de Extremadura" (Popular Tales of Extremadura). He was a corresponding member of the Royal Spanish Academy.
