Faustino Sancho y Gil

Faustino Sancho y Gil (Zaragoza, 1872 - Madrid, 1947) was a Spanish writer and journalist. He held a degree in Law from the University of Zaragoza, although he practiced law little, dedicating himself mainly to literature and journalism. He collaborated with various publications such as El Imparcial, ABC, and Blanco y Negro. He was the author of numerous novels, short stories, and plays, many of them with a marked costumbrista character. Some of his best-known works include "La casa de las sombras" and "Memorias de un solterón". He also served as an academic of the Royal Spanish Academy, occupying chair 'e' from 1926 until his death. His style was characterized by his elegant prose and his keen observation of the society of his time.
