Fernán Caballero is the pseudonym of Cecilia Böhl de Faber y Ruiz de Larrea (Morges, Switzerland, 1796 – Seville, Spain, 1877). She was a Spanish writer, considered one of the first realist novelists in Spain. Her work is characterized by Andalusian local color writing, reflecting rural life and the traditions of her era, with notable titles such as "La Gaviota".
