Alfonso Reyes Ochoa (Monterrey, 1889 - Mexico City, 1959) was a prominent Mexican writer, philosopher, and diplomat. A member of the Ateneo de la Juventud (Youth Ateneum), he cultivated essay, poetry, narrative, and literary criticism. His vast body of work and his humanism made him a central figure in 20th-century Hispanic American literature. He held diplomatic posts in several countries.
