G. Ticknor

George Ticknor (1791-1871) was an American historian and literary critic. He is best known for his work "History of Spanish Literature," published in 1849, which was the first comprehensive history of its kind written in English and remains an important reference in the field. He was a professor of French and Spanish at Harvard University and played a fundamental role in the founding of the Boston Public Library.
