Georg Friedrich Martens

Georg Friedrich von Martens (1756-1821) was a German jurist and diplomat. He studied law in Göttingen and Regensburg. He became a professor of natural law at the University of Göttingen in 1783. He is renowned for his influential work "Précis du droit des gens moderne de l'Europe" (1789) and for his collection of treaties "Recueil des traités". He held diplomatic roles for Hanover and Westphalia.
