Alfredo Espinosa Tamayo was an Ecuadorian writer, journalist, historian, and cultural manager. He was born on March 31, 1904, in Guayaquil and passed away on December 13, 1989. He was a member of the Ecuadorian Academy of Language and the Ecuadorian House of Culture, an institution of which he also served as president. He was recognized for his vast literary work, which included poetry, historical essays, and literary criticism, as well as for his work in promoting culture and education in Ecuador.
