George Ticknor

George Ticknor (1791–1871) was an American literary historian, Hispanist, and scholar. He was born in Boston and graduated from Dartmouth College. A professor of languages and literatures at Harvard, he is known for his work "History of Spanish Literature" (1849), a fundamental text in the study of Spanish literature. He was also a key figure in the founding of the Boston Public Library.
