Gilberto Ibarra Rivera (born in 1941) is a Mexican historian, political scientist, and writer. He obtained a degree in Law and earned a Master's and a Doctorate in History from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), an institution where he has also worked as a professor. He is recognized for his studies on the political history of Mexico, the political system and its institutions, as well as for biographies of key figures in contemporary Mexico.
