Hans Biedermann (1930-2010) was an Austrian ethnologist and folklorist, primarily known for his extensive works on symbolism, mythology, demonology, and the history of religions and superstitions. He studied ethnology and prehistory at the University of Vienna, where he later also taught. His most recognized work is "Knaurs Lexikon der Symbole", a dictionary of symbols that has been translated into several languages and has become a standard reference in the field.
