Hernán del Solar (1901-1985) was a Chilean writer, journalist, literary critic, and diplomat. He is recognized for his extensive work of short stories and novels, especially in the field of children's and young adult literature, where he addressed themes of fantasy and adventure. Among his best-known works are "The Night of the Goblins" and "The Singing Tree". He was also a member of the Chilean Academy of Language.
