Javier Ocampo López

Javier Ocampo López (Santa Rosa de Viterbo, Boyacá, 1935 - Tunja, Boyacá, 2017) was a Colombian historian, researcher, and professor. He held a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the National University of Colombia and an honorary doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa) in Educational Sciences from UPTC. He served as director of the National Museum of Colombia, a member of the Colombian Academy of History, and the Bolivarian Society of Colombia. He was recognized for his research on the Independence of Colombia, the history of ideas, and national symbols. His notable works include "El proceso ideológico de la emancipación" (The Ideological Process of Emancipation) and "Los grandes desafíos de la educación colombiana" (The Great Challenges of Colombian Education).
