Jean-Charles-Léonard Simonde Sismondi

Jean-Charles-Léonard Simonde de Sismondi (1773-1842) was a Swiss historian, economist, and literary critic of French origin. Known for his criticisms of economic liberalism and his advocacy for state intervention to mitigate social inequalities caused by industrialization. He is considered a precursor of socialism and heterodox economics. Among his most notable works are "History of the Italian Republics of the Middle Ages" and "New Principles of Political Economy".
