Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) was an Indian-born philosopher, speaker, and writer. He was born in Madanapalle and was recognized by the Theosophical Society as the possible "World Teacher". In 1929, he dissolved the Order of the Star, the organization created around him, declaring that truth is a pathless land. He dedicated the rest of his life to traveling and giving talks, emphasizing self-observation, the liberation of the mind from conditioning, and the futility of seeking external authority to find truth.
