Jorge J. E. Gracia was a Cuban-American philosopher. He was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1942 and passed away in 2021. He was a distinguished professor of philosophy at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, where he also served as director of the Center for Latino Studies. His main research areas included Latin American philosophy, medieval philosophy, metaphysics, and the philosophy of art. He authored numerous books and articles, and was an influential figure in the development of Latin American philosophy in the United States.
