José de Castro y Serrano (Granada, 1828 - Madrid, 1900) was a Spanish writer, journalist, and critic. He studied Law and Philosophy and Literature. He founded several publications such as "El Fígaro" and "El Cronista". He was an editor for "La Época" and "El Imparcial". He stood out for his journalistic work and his literary and theatrical criticism. He wrote novels such as "Los cuervos" and "La perla". He was a member of the Royal Spanish Academy.
