José Selgas y Carrasco (1822-1882) was a Spanish writer, journalist, poet, and politician, born in Lorca, Murcia. He studied Law and is known for his romantic and melancholic style of poetry, his most notable work being the collection of poems "La primavera" (Spring). He also served as a deputy to the Spanish Parliament (Cortes).
