Juan Ramón Jiménez (Moguer, Huelva, 1881 - San Juan, Puerto Rico, 1958) was a Spanish poet, a key figure of modernism and pure poetry. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1956. His work evolved from romanticism to intellectual and transcendent poetry, seeking absolute beauty and truth. He is the author of "Platero y yo", "Diario de poeta y mar", and "La estación total", among others. He spent a large part of his life in exile after the Spanish Civil War.
