Julio Cejador y Frauca (Cáceres, 1864 – Madrid, 1927) was a Spanish philologist, historian, writer, journalist, and professor. He studied Law and Philosophy and Letters. He was a professor of Latin literature at the University of Salamanca and, later, of Spanish literature at the Central University of Madrid. He stood out for his studies on Spanish literature and linguistics, being the author of monumental works such as the History of Castilian Language and Literature and the Etymological Dictionary of the Castilian Language. He was also a prolific essayist and literary critic. His work is fundamental for the understanding of Spanish philology and literature from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
