Kurt Spang, born in 1944 in Germany, is a Hispanist philologist and medievalist. He holds degrees in Hispanic Philology, German Philology, and Philosophy. He has been a Professor of Spanish Literature at the University of Hamburg since 1980. His research focuses on literary theory and criticism, the Spanish Golden Age, 19th-century literature, and translation theory. He has published numerous books and articles on these topics, standing out for his studies on Don Quijote and his work as a translator. He is a corresponding member of the Royal Spanish Academy.
