Samuel Rawson Gardiner (1829-1902) was an English historian, primarily recognized for his detailed and extensive work on the Stuart period in English history. He studied at Christ Church, Oxford, and later became a professor of modern history at King's College London. He dedicated a large part of his life to researching the 16th and 17th centuries, producing a series of volumes covering the reigns of James I, Charles I, and the English Civil War.
