Synopsis

The Latin translation of the inaugural Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, introduces Harry Potter, an ordinary eleven-year-old boy leading a rather mundane existence, who suddenly discovers on his eleventh birthday that he is, in fact, a wizard destined for a life far beyond his previous imagination. Years before the story begins, Harry's parents, James and Lily Potter, were tragically murdered by the notoriously evil dark wizard, Lord Voldemort. Voldemort also attempted to kill infant Harry, but mysteriously failed, leaving Harry with a lightning-shaped scar and becoming the only one to survive the Killing Curse. When the narrative opens, Harry is enduring a miserable and neglected life under the roof of his magic-hating (or Muggle) Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon Dursley, alongside their spoiled and cruel son, Dudley. The Dursleys actively try to suppress any hint of magic and treat Harry as an unwanted burden. Through a series of increasingly bizarre and eventually humorous events, starting with mysterious letters arriving at the Dursleys' home, Harry is dramatically whisked away to the magical world and enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There, he encounters an unforgettable array of characters: the exceptionally intelligent and rule-abiding Hermione Granger, the arrogant and antagonistic Draco Malfoy, the perpetually severe and enigmatic Professor Severus Snape, and the revered, wise Headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Numerous thrilling and dangerous adventures unfold as Harry and his new friends delve into the mysteries of the wizarding world and confront the lingering threat of Voldemort.
